Disasters Change Lives.
You Can Too. The American Red
Cross relies on the generosity of the American public. With your ongoing
support, we can continue to keep America strong through our various programs
including: Disaster Relief Services, Family Emergency Services, Critical
Lifesaving Services and 24-hour military assistance. The American Red Cross is an independent, not-for-profit organization that relies primarily on the generosity of the American people, corporations, and foundations for support. It is not a government agency. The Leavenworth County Chapter and all other chapters must rely on their own fundraising efforts to support their daily operation. How Can You Help One of the best ways individuals can support the Red Cross is to send a financial contribution. This enables the Red Cross to help those in need every day of the year where help is needed most. For example, many Leavenworth County residents remember the Flood of ’93 and the Tonganoxie Tornado of ’00. It was the financial contributions of so many who reached out to help their neighbors, which allowed us to provide the disaster resources needed. You can donate to the Red Cross by calling 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) . Spanish speakers can call 1-800-257-7575.
To make a contribution to the Leavenworth County Chapter, individuals may write a check payable to the "American Red Cross" and send it to the chapter at P.O. Box 255, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
How is Your Donation Used Nationwide, 92 cents of every dollar spent by the Red Cross goes to programs to help people in need. The value of these donations is magnified by the fact that the ratio of volunteer Red Cross workers to paid staff is 41 to 1. The Red Cross scores high marks for effective financial management from a variety of objective monitoring agencies. Top financial magazines such as Kiplingers Personal Finance and Money have consistently rated the Red Cross as on of the top five charities in their annual reviews.
